Construction of a new $270 million casino in Louisiana gets started by Cordish Companies.
The construction of a new $270 million (£213 million/€248 million) land-based casino in Louisiana has begun by Cordish Companies, and it is expected to open in 2025.
In Bossier City, Louisiana, the Cordish Companies Louisiana Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana will be constructed. LRGC Gaming Investors, a Cordish affiliate, is spearheading the project.
Since the project was only approved in October, Cordish hasn't wasted any time in getting to work. This followed Cordish's announcement in April of plans to renovate the Diamond Jacks Casino & Hotel. On the location of the former facility, a new venue is being constructed.
The location will include more than 47,000 square feet of gaming space and be branded with the Live! brand. More than 40 live table games and more than 1,000 slots and electronic table games will be included.
According to Cordish, during the project's first five years of operation, the City of Bossier will receive $35 million in gaming tax income. Additionally, it anticipates that the venue will generate more than $168 million in tax revenue for the State of Louisiana over the same time frame.
According to Cordish, the establishment will produce $34 million in salaries, wages, and tips annually in addition to 750 new construction jobs and roughly 750 more permanent gaming and hospitality jobs.
The groundbreaking event was attended by Louisiana Gaming Control Board chairman Ronnie Johns, Louisiana State Senator Barrow Peacock, and Bossier City Mayor Thomas Chandler.
Cordish chair praises Louisiana's "transformative" progress
Jon Cordish, chairman of Cordish, was also present at the event. According to him, the new casino will be a "transformative" development for Louisiana and Bossier City.
With the opening of Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana, Cordish stated, "Today is a very special day for my family and The Cordish Companies as we continue to expand our Live! brand in the southeast region of the country."
